This is not a letter to Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi but this is just an attempt (ref: THE CURIOUS CASE OF RAHUL GANDHI - http://www.indiandefence.com/forums/f31/rahul-gandhi-exposed-iit-student-nitin-gupta-6901/) to assess what really lacks us to be True Indian. Above article certainly projects how vulnerable our so called “Youth Icons” and “Leaders” are but who made them so. It is none other than us. Assassination of their immediate family members is been seen as supreme sacrifice for their motherland. We believe for years that it is our moral duty to let their family rule us. And we allow them rule them in spite of their hollow strategies and political blunders. Indian national congress has ruled the country for most of these 65 years after independence. We are very proud with the facts that it is now 2nd most prominent economy of Asia and is in the path of becoming one of the strongest in the world. Congress project this as their USP of last 65 year of independence because most of these 65 years are been ruled by them. It seems less so cause Adam smith’s theory of Moral sentiments (or popularly known doctrine: Invisible Hand of the market) suggests that it has not became so with congress ruling us (in the light of the fact: opening up the economy in 1991) but it’s because of the people’s own sentiments to prosper. Yes, indeed, he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. But, are they the only one who sacrificed their self? There were many more, Rajiv Goswami, his namesake, I bet many of us who are reading this don’t know who he was. He was student of deshbandhu college of Delhi university and has attempted self-immolation and is considered as first martyr for caste based reservation system. A cause which is very prominent in our social structure. But, is the cause of our late prime minister holds such prominence. Is his assassination was the outcome of one senseless rebel group – very less of us see this at the light of the facts. Most unified and disciplined army in the world, The Indian Army, is been sent to Sri Lanka on a “Peace” mission to fight against their own countrymen favoring neighboring country. Whatever be the circumstances would have been, was that the last resort of resolving that problem? I will leave it to you to decide.
Empirically, we have always been followers. We always required to be lead. We have been rules by kings and emperors and always be led probably not consciously but with parental prejudice. We love Gandhi family, you may disagree, but last 65 years are the witness that we love them a lot. J There is no wrong in following someone or delegating your powers. And this is the reason why we vote. We vote to delegate our power to that choosen one who can take decision on our behalf, who understands us and who himself have travelled in local train, who was there with you in government office’s queues with you, the one whose family member is serving in Army/Air Force/Navy, who knows what it cost to make it to good college, who understands how does it feel when there is no electricity while harvesting your crops, who know how much money he has to borrow to make crops grow, the one who been through a psych when one farmer commits suicide, how it feels when one bomb blast shatter your whole family. But have they ever been through this? Has any leader of our age have ever been through any of these? Offcourse not. Then too, taking this criteria as an exception we have given them power, what they did? They became so mighty that they have given us emergency. Those who don’t know emergency happened just because of someone ego got hurt. Who says politicians never gets punished. They get punished, well I may put this as, judiciary tries them to punished but they can escape by slapping emergency on us. When Allahabad passed a judgement barring Indira Gandhi from elections for 6 years and declaring her candidature as null and void because she used government machinery to win the elections. She used to call upon all the Public work department to arrange for her rallies. Do we work so hard and pay taxes to fund their election campaign? Didn’t they already siphon off so much money through Public sector units and their tenders? But what happens at the end of it, an another Pakistan, when she slapped emergency. Emergency is the period when all your civil rights are revoked. You can’t exercise your civil rights because government thinks that its very unstable time to for you to roam free. They decide on your behalf. Much in line of Field marshal Ayub Khan, who defies the publicly elected President of Pakistan. All the opposing leaders were put behind the bars. Then leaders of Janta party (now widely known as Bhartiya Janata Party) have written mercy letters to Indira Gandhi for let them roam free. This was the character of our beloved prime minister Atal Bihari Bajpai. Can we call them that they suffered with us? No because they belong to new caste, that is political caste. Why we are voting for them? Is there any dearth of Bhagat singh like character in the country. No, the only problem with all the bhagat singh’s, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru of new age was that they were too busy with their own life. They were too engrossed in cashing their newly found freedom. Being an indian we always need a trigger to act against atrocities, Yuvraj singh needs provocation from Flitoff for hitting six sixes, sehwag needs sledging from Pakistanis for inning of his lifetime, we need spanking from everyone around to do well in studies. We all need a reason which can push us for that ultimate push/change. And we have to ask ourself that what that trigger going to be !!!!!
